The 52 SUPER SERIES, the premier international sailing circuit for TP52 yachts, will headline the event, drawing elite teams from across the globe for high-performance racing. Known for its intense competition and technical precision, the TP52 series will race alongside seven other competitive classes: NHC, ORC, J70, SB20, SNIPE, FINN, and OPTIMIST.

Sailing fans and visitors to Cascais can expect a thrilling and action-packed event. With perfect summer sailing conditions, the waters of the Portuguese Riviera are known for providing some of the most physically demanding and exciting racing in Europe. The TP52 boats will race in the Atlantic, alongside high-performance boats like the VO65, further highlighting the event’s prominence in the international sailing calendar.

The Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy is committed to sustainability and ocean health. As part of its eco-conscious approach, the regatta is a single-use plastic-free event, and all entry fees will be donated to ocean conservation initiatives. Furthermore, the Mirpuri Foundation is sponsoring 50% of entry fees until March 31, 2025.

This year’s regatta will feature a spectacular prize-giving ceremony, where 38 trophies, including the prestigious Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy, will be awarded. The perpetual trophy, a unique piece of art made from solid gold and silver, will be one of the highlights of the closing ceremony, alongside the Mirpuri Foundation Ocean Award. This award, presented for the fifth time, recognizes outstanding innovation in marine health and conservation.

The Mirpuri Foundation is dedicated to advancing ocean health and supporting sustainable sailing initiatives. In addition to its sponsorship of the Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy, the Foundation has a long history of backing impactful campaigns and teams, such as Turn the Tide on Plastic in the Volvo Ocean Race 2017–18 and the Mirpuri Foundation Racing Team in The Ocean Race Europe 2021 and The Ocean Race 2023. With a focus on raising awareness about climate change and plastic pollution, the Foundation continues to be a leader in the world of sustainable sailing.

Organized in partnership with the Clube Naval de Cascais, the annual Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy is a premier event on the summer sailing calendar. The regatta champions sustainability, being a plastic-free event designed to raise awareness and funds for marine conservation projects worldwide.

At its core, the event celebrates the intersection of sailing and innovation, showcasing the scientific community’s dedication to sustainability. One standout initiative is the Mirpuri Foundation Ocean Award, which honors individuals and organizations whose projects make a tangible impact on ocean health. Additionally, the regatta holds official recognition as an UNESCO Ocean Decade event, underscoring its ongoing commitment to sustainability. As a signatory of Sports for Nature, it joins a groundbreaking initiative aimed at leveraging the power of sport to address the global nature crisis.

This two-day regatta not only celebrates the ocean and sailing but also delivers thrilling racing experiences. With the Atlantic breeze reliably fueling the competition, the event features exciting races across various classes. In previous editions, over one hundred boats participated, including IMOCA, VO65, and VO70 class boats.

Cascais Marina has previously hosted numerous prestigious events such as the America’s Cup World Series, the World Match Racing Tour, the Audi MedCup, and The Ocean Race Europe. The Clube Naval de Cascais, a cornerstone of Portuguese sailing since its founding in 1938, is home to the renowned Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Academy, which is the country’s leading sailing school. Cascais is also the base for the Mirpuri Foundation Racing Team, winners of The Ocean Race Europe 2021.
